(Firstly, as just a little side note, i have no idea whether or not the dates are correct. They are
approximatley right for the passing of both Lady and Jodie, but i'm not incredibly certain as both
we're my grandmas pets, not mine.)
Lady & Jodie: The tale of two best friends
*ℓ α ∂ у *
I remember Lady as an old, fragile dog, but loving in so many ways. I adored stroking her as a
young child and in many ways she reminded me of a mother character.
Lady was such a quite and shy little dog, but her trust of the humans around her was clearly
apparent.
*נ σ ∂ ι є*
Unfourtunatly, i can only remember Jodie vaguly. Although i can not base much of this on personal
knowledge, i do know that my Jodie was a very wonderful companion to my Grandma, and that they both
loved each other very much.
Sadly, both Lady and Jodie passed when i was very young.
Jodie passed over before Lady i think, possibly due to cancer.
I remember she used to get large sores on her legs that made it agonizing for her to walk.
Lady passed after falling down the stairs one night, she was a very old friend.
Although i did not get to know you that well, both of you have certainly left an imprint on my
heart, and i shall always remember you and the joy your brought to Grandma's life.
Grandma misses you both so much.
Very often she will call her other pets by your names.
It makes me happy knowing that she regularly still keeps you on her mind.
Lady and Jodie were the best of friends. They grew up together and spent their lives together. It's
comforting to know that they have each other up there in doggy heaven, probably running around
chasing after leaves blowing in the wind.
Rest in peace Lady and Jodie

LADY AND JODIE
Special Friend
--------------
I came home from work; after a long hard day
but the house felt so empty; I couldn't stay
So I grabbed my coat; and hopped in the car
then drove to the park; it wasn't to far
I walked down the path; and spotted a bench
then it started to rain; guess who got drenched
I dried the bench; then sat down to rest
I looked up in the tree; and saw a bird's nest
I watched two dogs; take a break for a drink
as my mind started wandering; I started to think
I thought about times; from back in the past
when the fun we had; would last and last
The kid's would see us; as we walked in the park
and they'd come a runnin; as you let out a bark
With your friendly bark; and wagging tail
off you'd all go; play on the trails
You were so kind and gentle; never a pest
in everyone's book; you were simply the best
Always there; for one in need
as you did your best; to do a good deed
I got up from the bench; and walked to my car
then drove back home; it wasn't very far
I walked in the house; and pulled up a chair
then opened a window; to get some fresh air
I went to the kitchen; to get a drink
then sat in the chair; and began to think
My life has been blessed; since the day we met
to me you are one; very special pet
The Lord decided; to put us together
I'll always be thankful; for ever and ever
You are my star; my guiding light
my eyes and ears; in the black of night
I look to the day; we'll be together again
just me and my very; special friend

Into Spirit
I see you grieve,
I feel you grieve
But I am with you.
And will stay, til you laugh
When remembering the fun
We had in all those years.
Thank you for the courage to let me go,
No more weary, no more pain,
I am with you, you will feel me
My cold nose, my waving tail.
You will see my smiling mouth and shining fur,
You will hear my happy voice.
I can run now, I can play now
With all my family and my friends.
But I will love you and I will watch you
Til we meet again.
A Woodland Place
A woodland place full of dreams,
A mossed bank and bluebells,
Grey ashes floating down
Sinking into browned rich earth,
Spirit soft bodies,
Happy eyes waving tails
Cold noses pressed into our hands
There and all around, easing grief,
In soft warm, warm spring air.

Love Within My Eyes ~
I've been blessed with many things
The best of all is you,
A friend unlike all others,
With a Love so strong and true.
As the days go slowly by
I'll watch you from above
Guiding with a gentle paw
And never ending love.
When you need to feel me near
Look to the starry sky
For the twinkle that is brightest
Is the love within my eyes.

I Haven’t Left At All
I saw you gently weeping as you looked through photographs
You paused for just a moment at one that made you laugh.
But as you turned more pages the tears began to flow
You whispered that you missed me but I want you to know;
I softly licked those stinging tears that down your cheeks did fall
I want to help you understand I haven’t left at all.
On those days that you are overcome with sorrow, pain and grief
I rest my head upon your leg to offer some relief.
When you take our walking path I’ve seen you turn around
Because I know you surely heard my paws upon the ground.
At night while you are sleeping I snuggle at your side
You stroke my fur as you touch that place where I used to lie.
You said it’s just your heart playing tricks upon your mind
But rest assured I’m really there, my spirit’s left behind.
I know your heart is hurting; it’s like an open sore
You think my life has ended and you won’t see me anymore.
But for those of us bound tight by love, death is not the curtain call;
It’s really the eternal beginning that waits for us all
So, dear Master as you live your life I patiently await
For us to be together when you pass through Heaven’s gate.

From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "That's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for "just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and, in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me, and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a human."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile....because they "just don't understand."

"WHEN ONLY THE LOVE REMAINS:
THE PAIN OF PET LOSS"
by Emily Margaret Stuparyk
You were a bright light for me
My shining star
Now the light has gone out
How will I go on!
I loved you in life and
I love you in death
Such sadness has swept me
Away like a tidal wave
Carried me to another place
And now, someone else remains to grieve
Because my pain is indescribable.
You were my strength
My brave little soldier
And now, the strength has gone from me too
I miss you, so desperately.
You were everything to me
You gave me so much joy
And now, the angels are the lucky ones
As they watch you romp on heaven's greens.
But I too was lucky once,
She loved me with all her heart
We bonded in life, and now in death
I'll carry her wherever I go.
LADY AND JODIE XX
Should you go first
Should you go first and I remain
To walk the road alone,
I'll live in memories' garden
With happy days we've known.
In Spring I'll wait for roses red,
When faded, the lilacs blue;
In earl' Fall when brown leaves fall,
I'll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first and I remain,
For battles to be fought,
Each thing you've touched
Along the way,
Will be a hallowed spot.
I'll hear your bark, I'll see your smile,
Though blindly I may grope,
The memory of your helping paws
Will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain
One thing I'll have to do,
Walk slowly down that long path
For soon I'll follow you.
I want to know each step you take
So I may take the same,
For someday down that lonely road
You'll hear me call your name.

Since you have gone the sun has left the sky,
No breezes blow,
No birds sing
To ease the aching vacuum in my heart.
I shall not forget your gentle ways;
No judgements made,
No difficult demands,
No needs save one,
To share your life with mine.
Now kind, uncomprehending people say,
"Cheer up, you'll love another pet some day."

"Paw Prints In The Sand"
By Phyllis Ann Min
With my pal gone
My side is bare
Just looking down
She is not there.
A heavy heart,
A saddened soul
A weight of passage
Tears untold.
Now all alone
I feel the space
Where oft my friend
Would lick my face.
Yet life goes on.
God’s outstretched hand
Sends hope through paw prints
In the sand.
